Project Recovery

IT Projects quite frequently fail. This is typically the case for big software development projects. They usually go over budget, are delivered too late and do not meet the end-user requirements. Some projects never go into production at all.

Our experience shows that, as the deadline is approaching, people start to cut corners (testing less extensive, sloppier code, poor design). The team has to make overtime and gets exhausted. Some of your best developers decide to float their CV. Some managers try to avoid the blame for the failure, so the project manager feels left alone and gets depressed. Your customer distrusts you, blames you, may even sue you or call for your dismissal.

ADJUGO offers services to help you recover from this situation. We can contribute by saving the project, put it back on the rails again, restore confidence, (re)introduce good practices and motivate the team. Not all projects can be saved of course, but even then we can help you in taking the decision to stop the project, investigate what went wrong and how to avoid failure in the future.

A special case of Project Recovery services is project mediation. ADJUGO can be a neutral outsider, acting as a mediator or referee, in order to work out a solution between the different parties involved. We try to go back to the facts: we assess the project and the deliverables, examine the planning, measure progress and in general try to find a reasonable compromise. We base our approach on a profound knowledge of best practices in IT, combined with a healthy respect for common sense.
