Description

As a Senior Business Analyst at BNP Paribas Fortis, you will join the Global Cash Management Competence Center, a strategic hub that defines the direction of cash management services across the BNP Paribas Group. Working closely with the Payments Tribe, you will transform business challenges into smart, scalable, and user-centric payment solutions. The mission sits at the core of the Payment Excellence trajectory, where transparency, operational efficiency, and client-centric delivery are key priorities. You will contribute both at initiative level and at cluster level, ensuring that business analysis supports strategic transformation. This role gives you a visible impact on the evolution of payment services in an international banking environment.

Your responsibilities include shaping refinements, translating business needs into actionable requirements, and supporting the integration of Payment Excellence capabilities into the local BNP Paribas Fortis landscape. You will focus strongly on improving payment flows, reducing exceptions, and increasing automation across the end-to-end resolution process. The assignment also covers initiatives involving SWIFT Case Manager, ISO20022 compliance, smart routing, and AI-driven resolution tools. By analysing recurring service requests and client issues, you will identify pain points and propose improvements that reduce operational workload and improve customer satisfaction. You will work with multiple stakeholders across countries and squads to ensure clarity, consistency, and measurable business outcomes.

This freelance mission requires a strong senior profile with at least ten years of relevant experience in payments, investigations, and related operations. You are expected to combine analytical sharpness with strong stakeholder communication and the ability to manage scope and milestones autonomously. A solid understanding of conceptual modelling, requirements management, workflow processes, IT, and testing is essential to succeed in this role. The environment is hybrid, with an expectation of fifty percent onsite work and fifty percent homeworking, plus limited travel to Paris or Lisbon once or twice per year. For professionals who enjoy complex payment environments, international collaboration, and solution-driven analysis, this mission offers strong strategic and operational value.

Technical Skills

Payments and Investigations

Strong experience in international and SEPA payments, investigations, and related operations is essential. The mission requires a solid understanding of payments processing and the broader European and global SWIFT payment landscape. Knowledge of exception handling, payment transparency, and resolution flows is central to the role. Exposure to ISO20022, SWIFT Case Manager, and smart routing initiatives is highly valuable.

Business Analysis and Delivery

The consultant must be able to translate business needs into clear and actionable requirements across the delivery lifecycle. Proven expertise in requirements management, conceptual modelling techniques, and structured refinement activities is required. The role also expects a good understanding of workflow processes, KPI measurement, and the coordination of initiative-level and cluster-level analysis work. A sound understanding of IT and testing is needed to align business and technical teams effectively.

Tools and Methods

Good expertise in MS Office is required for analysis, documentation, and reporting. Familiarity with agile methodology is considered an advantage. The consultant should be comfortable working in a structured yet evolving delivery environment where business value, prioritisation, and measurable outcomes remain in focus. Experience working across multiple squads and entities is important for successful execution.

General Skills

Analytical and Client Focus

The ideal candidate is analytically sharp and able to break down complex business situations into clear insights and actions. A client-focused mindset is required to identify recurring pain points, reduce client effort, and improve self-sufficiency. The mission values professionals who can use data and feedback to propose practical improvements with measurable impact. A strong orientation toward business value and operational efficiency is expected throughout the assignment.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

Strong written and spoken communication skills are needed, especially in Dutch, with French and English as useful additional languages. The role involves frequent interaction with product owners, squads, and stakeholders across multiple countries, so clarity and alignment are critical. The consultant must be able to lead refinement sessions, support intake meetings, and coordinate multi-entity working groups effectively. Strong collaboration skills are essential to keep initiatives moving in a complex international setting.

Autonomy and Results Orientation

As a senior business analyst, you are expected to manage your own scope and milestones in a project-based environment. The mission requires a results-driven mindset, balancing analysis quality with delivery progress and business impact. The consultant should be able to lead work independently while remaining aligned with strategic objectives and operational priorities. A proactive and solution-oriented attitude is important for successful implementation and adoption.
