Functional Analyst - SMALS (Bruxelles)
Description
SMALS is looking for a Senior Functional Analyst to support a large-scale business transformation programme. You will join a department of approximately 90 professionals responsible for modernising existing applications, refactoring legacy solutions, and delivering new business applications. Working in an Agile environment, you will act as a key link between business stakeholders, project teams, and technical experts. The role requires strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills.
You will be responsible for identifying, analysing, documenting, and validating business processes and user requirements. By translating business needs into functional analyses and application designs, you will help ensure that solutions align with organisational objectives. Close collaboration with developers, business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders is essential to deliver high-quality solutions. You will also contribute to technical specifications and support end-to-end delivery activities.
The assignment offers a long-term opportunity within a highly professional environment located in Brussels. Hybrid working is available, with up to three days of homeworking per week. The position combines stakeholder engagement, process improvement, and solution delivery in a dynamic setting. Candidates must have Belgian nationality due to the nature of the activities.

Strong experience in functional and business analysis, requirements gathering, process modelling, UML, BPMN, user story creation, test analysis and solution design.
Tools & Technologies
Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, SQL and understanding of enterprise application environments. Familiarity with APIs, mappings, services, batches, business models and technical specifications is required.
Agile Delivery
Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with development teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
General Skills
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relationship management, workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
Analytical Thinking
Ability to understand complex business domains, abstract information, analyse requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
Collaboration & Leadership
Strong teamwork capabilities, ability to integrate into existing teams, support junior colleagues and work closely with project managers and business analysts.
